A beautiful mountain sunset may mark the end of the day in the High Country, but for countless locals and visitors alike, the fun is just beginning.
Enjoy a night at a local restaurant or brewery, go hit up the mic, or even challenge yourself to the escape room. Add in the presence of Appalachian State University, and nightlife in Boone is very popular.
4 Things to Do in the High Country at Night
Check out these 4 things-to-do when the sun goes down at night in the High Country of North Carolina.
#1: Grab Drinks at a Local Bar
Who doesn’t love grabbing drinks at a local bar? Here are a few bars in Boone and Blowing Rock that you won’t want to miss.
If you’re looking for a dog friendly activity, head to Horton Hotel and Rooftop Lounge for a relaxing glass of wine or craft beer. The Queen’s Revenge is my personal favorite.
Want to go out and watch your favorite team play? The TAPP Room and River Street Ale House have you covered in Boone.
In Blowing Rock? Head to Town Tavern for some wings and a pint.
Another downtown Boone favorite is Cobo Sushi Bistro & Bar. They offer delicious cocktails and sushi, and I highly recommend getting the Cobo Rangoons and the Co-Bang Shrimp for starters.
#2: Karaoke + Live Music
The High Country of North Carolina has so many live music opportunities for you to experience. From music festivals to summer concert series, there’s something for every music lover here.
Warm up those vocal cords and pick your favorite song because Ransom Pub + Event Venue offers karaoke every Thursday night starting at 8pm.
If you prefer trivia to the microphone, The Local is where it’s at every Wednesday night starting at 9pm. The Local also has live music occasionally on Wednesday nights.
If you are closer to the Banner Elk area, check out Beech Mountain’s Summer Concert Series.
#3: Breweries:
The High Country of North Carolina and Boone are world famous for their craft beer breweries.
Start the evening out with a drink at Lost Province in downtown Boone. Their jalapeño hush puppies and pretzels that accompanied with marinara and pimento cheese are a must.
Visit Appalachian Mountain Brewery in the heart of Boone for a beer infused wood fired pizza and a flight of beer. Grab an IPA and hangout under Booneshine’s spacious pavilion or in their tasting room and restaurant on the East Side of Boone.
If you’re in the Blowing Rock area, check out Six Pence Pub or Blowing Rock Brewing Company.

#4: Try Late Night Food or an Escape Room
Not into the bar scene? Go to 10 High Country Lanes for some bowling, or head downtown and try Mysterium Escape Adventure, the only interactive escape rooms in Boone. You have one hour to escape the locally owned and created rooms. Reservations are encouraged and you can have up to eight people per room.
If you’re just looking for a late night snack, Cookout, Waffle House, and Taco Bell will always be open for your late night cravings.
