Meet 828 Real Estate’s Newest Office Administrator & Marketing Coordinator

Sara decided 2 years ago that she wanted to start dipping her toes into real estate in the High Country of North Carolina. 828 Real Estate is excited to bring Sara on to our team as an Office Administrator and Marketing Coordinator. Here’s everything you need to know about Sara Weatherholtz, in her own words.

#1: She Grew Up in Florida

Growing up in northeast Florida on the beach, I never thought I would end up living in the Appalachian Mountains and exploring nature all the time.  I sure am glad that this is the direction my life took. You shouldn’t judge me for being from Florida, I know how to drive in the snow!

#2: I Played Collegiate Softball at Lees-McRae College

While playing a pickup game of softball for a travel ball team, I was approached by a college softball coach about playing for his team at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. I had never heard of the small town or college. After living in the Jacksonville and St. Augustine, Florida, Austin, Texas,  and Atlanta, Georgia, I was not sure if I would do well in such a seemingly small area. Well, after a beautiful drive into the mountains and a tour of the college, I was in love. I had never seen so much possibility and adventure before! I played softball at Lees-McRae College for 2 years. After suffering a torn ACL, which lead to surgery, I realized I wanted to explore the countless other opportunities in the High Country.

#3: I Have Three Dogs

After my softball injury, I took a year off school and retired my glove. Since then I have explored some of the most beautiful and breath-taking places with my best-friend and trusty travel dog, Helix. We have traveled all over the Blue Ridge Mountains and have even driven cross country together!

#4: I’m Active & Love to Travel

If you need suggestions on where to hike, camp, or kayak with your furry friend while in the High Country, just ask! I have lived in many different beautiful places and traveled all around the United States, but nothing compares to the Appalachian Mountains and the community that surrounds it. It is physically impossible for me to walk down King Street and not smile.

#5: I’m Creative

I love using my creativity to assist 828 Real Estate team in marketing homes in the High Country of North Carolina. I enjoy keeping everyone organized and on top of the latest trends.  Soon, I look forward to helping people learn why the High Country of  North Carolina is the best place on Earth.

About the Author
I am a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, but I have been in North Carolina since1997 when I moved to Boone to attend Appalachian State University. I earned my degree in Theatre Education and Communications. While at ASU I met my husband, Matt Long, a Boone native and general contractor, and gained a heart for these mountains and my beloved ASU Mountaineers. After graduation, I spent 5 years teaching in Charlotte before being given the opportunity to move back to the High Country. In 2007 I earned my NC Real Estate License and began in full-time brokerage. In 2010 I helped to open a franchise brokerage in the High Country. I gained impactful knowledge and built important relationships during my 8 years there, but began to feel the calling to get back to my roots.

In June of 2018, my dream became a reality when I opened 828 Real Estate. We are a boutique brokerage that is locally focused, community-minded and client-driven. I feel so fortunate to be in a career that I love, have opportunities to serve wonderful clients, and get to work with the best team here at 828 Real Estate.

I am a member of The High Country Association of Realtors, the North Carolina Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors. I am a member the Boone Chamber of Commerce and I am on the board for the Downtown Boone Development Association. I have also completed the Realtor  e-Pro certification that specifically focuses on the technology tools needed in the purchase or sale of a property. Additionally, I have earned my CLHMS Designation. (Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist) and a qualified LuxuryHomes.com Affiliate. Over the years I have been awarded various Top Producer Awards. I am honored each year to be invited to the Top 50 Brokers in the High Country celebration.

My husband and I reside in downtown Boone and have 2 beautiful children, Sadie Rose and Levi. We attend Alliance Bible Fellowship and stay connected by serving the community and supporting local non-profits like Western Youth Network, The Appalachian Theatre and Valle Crucis Community Park. We love to spend time outside hiking, playing on the river, running with their dog, Emmie Lou, hitting the slopes and making the most of our time in this amazing place we get to call home!
