A little about me
A BIT MORE ABOUT ANTHONY "TONY"
Anthony (Tony) Calamai earned a Ph.D. in physics at NC State University and was then awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. Following his fellowship, he joined the faculty at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He became the department chair and a professor of physics at Appalachian State University in 2000 and served in that roll until 2008. He was then selected and served as the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (2008-16) at ASU. His current appointment in the ASU College of Arts & Sciences is that of Distinguished Professor of Science Education. Among other professional activities, he currently serves on the American Institute of Physics’ Education Advisory Resource Group; the editorial board of The Physics Teacher journal; a member of the NASA/NC Space Grant Executive Board; and has been appointed by two different Governors to the Advisory Commission of the NC State Museum of Natural Sciences. Tony’s interest in Real Estate stems from his early years when his father often had him tag along to assist with his property development work. When he’s not teaching and mentoring students at ASU, you can find him working around his house and rental properties, enjoying the outdoors in the high country of NC, and now becoming a realtor for the next phase of his career. Tony is available evenings and weekends and regularly checks email for all his ongoing projects.
